From the rubble: a reminder in gratitude

Life is fragile.  Like one minute you are editing papers and the next you are trapped in rubble.  I can't stop thinking about those children from Plaza Tower Elementary school in Moore, OK. It is amazing how quickly your whole world can (literally) be turned upside down.

That said, I'd like to express my gratitude for some of the amazing people in my life.  I am blessed to have a Dad and Mom who do so much for me... that sounds cliche.  But I've been having a bad bout of medical issues and they have stuck through it all with me even though we are states apart.

I am grateful for my siblings.  They are all different and I like it that way.  I feel that I have a unique (and sometimes imperfect) relationship with each of them.

My roommates have been a huge help to me also.  There was one night where I was very sick and could not stop throwing up.  Literally these two angels sat in the bathroom with me holding my hair and rubbing my back.  That is true friendship.

I have to express gratitude towards my future in-laws.  They have been so gracious in reaching out to me and making me feel like I am a part of their family.  It has been exciting getting to know each one of them and growing to love them all.

Also. I'm grateful for Kyle.  For putting up with me on my bad days and on my good days.  For staying up late talking on the phone with me.  For surprise visiting me.  For constantly serving me.  For being an example of someone I want to be.

Yes life is fragile.  But I am so glad to be surrounded by so many amazing individuals that make it all worth it.
