8 Signs You're In Wisconsin

  1. You pass people on the highway eating slices of cheese.
  2. People say things like "beg" and "knoo" [[translations: "bag" and "know]]
  3. You wake up at 5:30am to Mike yelling about a black bear in the front yard
  4. Towns consist solely of a bar and gas station
  5. The country to pop radio station ratio is 10:1
  6. You can still see the sun even though it is 9:30pm
  7. Your water tastes like copper because it comes from a well
  8. There are hidden cheese factories between towns
I cannot believe we have only been in Wisconsin for one week!  It feels like we have been here for months.  Last week Kyle went to work and I went out to find work.  I narrowed my search down to three options: The Dollar Tree, Wal-mart, and a daycare.  After being offered a job at Wal-mart, I shamelessly begged my way into an interview and an eventual job at the daycare.  I am going to be designing the summer program for the "school-age" kids (5-12) with another girl.  So far I am enjoying my job and it is definitely keeping me very busy!!

Kyle is also enjoying his summer internship.  At the lego store he proceeded to tell me how the lego pieces are made.  He also has made me watch countless YouTube videos about the molding process.  He's just kind of a nerd but I'm glad he really likes what he is doing!

Wisconsin and Minnesota are beautiful.  We met up with some of our friends from school to explore Minneapolis.  The Mall of America was only slightly overwhelming and while we'll never understand the meaning behind the sculptures in the famous sculpture gardens, it was an adventure.

MALL OF AMERICA-- featuring: a full-blown theme park, an aquarium, and every store you could possibly imagine.

Because...why not spoon by a spoon?

Kyle and I also managed to obtain two bikes (thanks dad) and so whenever it is warm enough we ride around town and explore.  This is probably my favorite thing to do... even though the town is so small that we can ride completely around it in 30 minutes or so.

Sunday bike ride around St. Mary's Lake!

There is so much more to see and experience, I am afraid that this summer is going to slip away all too fast!!  Time and time again I am so thankful that we are interning during the summer months because I have heard from one too many people how miserable winters are.  Right now Kyle and I are just taking things day-by-day and making the most of our time here!
