What's new with me?
Whether by a since desire to know or out of common courtesy, I am always asked: "So what's new with you!?" I never know what to say because, honestly, I do not think my life is extremely exciting. But for those of you who sincerely want to know "what's new with me," this is my best attempt at an imaginative re-telling of my recent happenings.
Kyle had to keep pulling over so I could collect leaves, they were all so beautiful I couldn't decide on just one!! We now have quite the collection of pressed leaves.
Fall also means FOOTBALL!!!! Okay, I know you all do not want to listen to me brag but the Broncos are doing so well this year. Peyton Manning is definitely my hero. I've officially given up hope on the BYU Cougars. No, I am not a fair-weather fan, I just do not have the time to worry so much about a team that is not nearly as good as the Broncos. This said, Kyle and I have still been to every single game... even in the bitter cold:
1. Education Enthusiast
This semester to prepare me for Student Teaching/Internship (which I begin next Fall), I have to complete a practicum in grades K-2. This means that I go into the classroom everyday for a month and teach a little bit. Before this happens, however, there has been lots of preparation in my courses!
I now have perfect teacher handwriting, and can keep a decent Running Record (the ultimate multi-tasking challenge). In addition, I have had the opportunity to observe at an Elementary School. Every time I go into a school I am reminded of my passion for teaching. I cannot wait to have my own classroom!
Well, I think that every good teacher needs some good teaching outfits so... I have been shopping a lot lately (sorry not sorry Kyle). I own my first blazer- essential for teaching, four pairs of flats, and some very nice pants. Let's just say that I look good in my new clothes (and professional of course). Look out world, Mrs. Lontine is ready to teach!
After a moving lesson on bullying, I have begun watching the documentary "Bully" (found on Netflix). I will save my views for another blog post but the more I learn about issues in education the more I want to become an educator.
2. Fall Festivities.
When I think of fall I think of: football, colored leaves, and forts. Yes, forts. Tradition holds that every year for General Conference we build a fort. Just because I got married doesn't mean that changes. Kyle, Kylie, Holly, Ethan, Tanner and I proceeded to do just that this past weekend.
It's awesome.
Perfect for snuggling.
Brings good luck.
Keeps me warm.
Cons:
We get really lazy and just lay around watching movies all day.
Clearly, the pros outweigh the cons in this situation. Thus, the fort tradition lives on.
I had a life crisis when I woke up a few weeks ago and found frost on the cars and snow on the mountain. I hate the cold. (No amount of emphasis can express my disgust). I've already pulled out my heavy winter sweaters and- confession- I've already worn leggings under my jeans at least once. I guess the good news is that I'm really good at layering: t-shirt, sweater, jacket, blanket.
I made Kyle go for a Sunday drive with me. We went to one of our favorite places: Hobble Creek. Our drive was the epitome of a fall day. The air was crisp, the deer were grazing, and the leaves were vibrant colors of yellows and reds and oranges. Though I am a fan of warmer days, there is something about fall that sparks excitement in me.

(Fun fact: this game was exactly one year after our first date, which was also to a BYU football game)
Okay but the best part of football this year, aside from the fact that I am in 2nd place in my Fantasy Football league, is that I am on an intramural flag football team! The LIL NUGZ. Yes, that is our team name & it's brilliant. We are quite the modge-podge team. But weirdly (or not so weirdly) we are actually good. We lost our first game, to the Women's lacrosse team, but the past few weeks we have won! Though we don't have set positions I usually play Cornerback or Wide Receiver. More than anything these games are SO MUCH FUN. The girls on my team are absolutely amazing and Coach Roy is the best!
I know that my life is not particularly exciting, but it is enough to keep me happy!!

Haha it never really hit me until now that you will be Mrs. Lontine to your students too! I was like, "Wait, Mrs. Lontine! That's me!" Haha I'm glad there will be a Mrs. Lontine in the classroom again. You are going to be such an awesome teacher!
